Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inducted former Congress leader Jitin Prasad, the most high-profile new face in the ruling BJP and six others in the ministry during his cabinet expansion ahead of the assembly polls slated for early next year.

In the expansion Yogi Adityanath tried to play the caste card as representation has been given across caste and communities.
Jitin Prasada was a close associate of Rahul Gandhi, and the partys top Brahmin face in UP, before he shifted his loyalty towards BJP in June this year.
Chatrapal Gangwar - the MLA from Bahedi in Bareilly, Dharamveer Prajapati -an MLC from western UPs Agra, and Dr Sangeeta Balwant Bind - a first-time MLA from Ghazipur Sadar who got the berth in the cabinet represent OBC communities.


Hastinapur MLA Dinesh Khateek, Sanjiv Kumar - a first-time MLA from Obra in eastern UPs Sonbhadra, and Paltu Ram - a first-time MLA from Balrampur Sadar took oath along with others.

Dinesh Khateek and Paltu Ram belong to Scheduled Caste while Sanjiv Kumar is from a Scheduled Tribe.
