Chandigarh : Navjot Singh Sidhu chief of Punjab Congress today resigned from his post putting the Congress on tight spot in the poll bound state.

Mr Sidhu announced about his resignation through his tweet and also uploaded his resignation letter addressed to Congress president Sonia Gandhi on his twitter account.

The letter read that ",the collapse of a mans character stems from the compromise corner,  | can never compromise on Punjabs future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab."

In his letter he mentioned that he would continue to serve the Congress even after putting down his papers.

Meanwhile retorting sharply over the resignation of Sidhu, firmer Pu jab CM who had residences following  political row with Sidhu, Capt. Amarinder Singh tweeted that "I told you so…he is not a stable man and not fit for the border state of Punjab." After his resignation following a long-running power tussle with Sidhu, Capt Singh describing him a friend of Pakistan and a security threat to the entire country had vowed to ensure that Sidhu wouldnt become chief minister.

The resignation of Sidhu who was keeping an eye on the post of CM ,brought a political turmoili in the state as Congress to his utter surprise had chosen Charanjit Singh Channi as CM following resignation of Captain Amrinder Singh.

Meanwhile close confidants of Sidhu indicated that he was believed to be upset over the recent developments including non inclusion of some of his favourite MLAs in Channi government.

Congress was in tight a spot following the new political drama of Sidhu who had replaced Sunil Jakhar as Congress in June after much power tussle between him and former chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had resigned  due to “humiliation” earlier this month.

The resignation delivers a huge blow to the Congress, leaving it struggling for a face in Punjab ahead of polls.
