Maharashtra lags behind Uttar Pradesh in terms of fully vaccinated citizens

Uttar Pradesh ‘the top state’ in terms of vaccination with over 12.77 cr doses administered so far

Lucknow: The government of Maharashtra on Tuesday found itself at the receiving end of social media trolling for its tweet which claimed Maharashtra to be the first and only state to have crossed the milestone of 3 crore fully vaccinated citizens, which it later deleted.

Declaring Maharashtra as the first state to fully vaccinate 3 crore people, CMO Maharashtra tweeted, “Today, Maharashtra has crossed the milestone of 3 crore fully vaccinated citizens, the highest for any state in the country. This is a big feat for our health care system. We are also making sure to reach the goal of fully vaccinated households = fully vaccinated Maharashtra!”

It is noteworthy that Maharashtra lags behind Uttar Pradesh in terms of covid-19 vaccination. The state of Uttar Pradesh on October 25, crossed the significant landmark by becoming the first state with more than 3 crore people receiving both doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far. UP accounts for the maximum fully vaccinated population at 3,08,30,787, followed by Maharashtra’s 3,01,47,679. The most populous state has so far given over  12,77,24,080 ‘Shots of Life’ to people. Whereas Maharashtra has given 9,62,76,087 total doses so far.

Several Twitter users pointed out the false claim by the Maharashtra government after which it had to take down the tweet.
