It Seizes assets over Rs 1,000 cr linked to Ajit Pawar


Properties spread in various parts of Maharashtra

New Delhi: The Income Tax ( IT) department has seized properties worth Rs 1,000 crore linked to the Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar.


The IT action against Ajit Pawar was taken a few days back under Anti-Benami property Act. 

Information pouring in said that five properties, including Nirmal Tower at Nariman Point in Mumbai, a sugar factory, a resort and Pawars office in Mumbai have been seized.
 
Ajit Pawar and (his) family were allegedly beneficiaries of the Benami properties, seized by the IT.

 Ajit Pawar, a few days back had refuted the allegations leveled against him in connection with Jarandeshwar Sahkari Sugar mill Karakhana, and had claimed that the "facts" will come out as the ED was investigating into the matter.

The sources informed that among the attached properties there is a flat worth about Rs 20 crore based in South Delhi, Pawars office located at Nirmal Tower is worth around Rs 25 crore, a resort named Nilaya if worts Rs 250 crore in Goa, plots of land across Maharashtra with market value  Rs 500 crore and Jarandeshwar Sugar Factory worth Rs 600 crore.

The IT sleuths carried out simultaneous raids in Mumbai,  Goa, Pune, Baramati and Jaipur during which it claimed to gather evidence of prima-facie unaccounted and benami transactions and incriminating documents.
