Liquor is totally prohibited in Bihar
Patna: Over 24 people lost their lives in hooch tragedy in Bihar where liquor has been totally banned and stringent laws were enforced to make the state free from Alcohol.
According to the reports 16 people died in Gopalganj and eight in West Champaran district.
A report from West Champaran informed that eight people died after consuming spurious liquor in Chamartoli locality in Telhua village under Nautan police station area on Thursday night.
A similar report from Gopalganj informed about 13 casualities in pooch tragedy in Mahmadpur village under Mahmadpur police station area of the district sine Thursday night till Friday morning.
All those who had consumed liquor last night,
complained about uneasiness, the villagers i former. Some of them does while being dushre to the hospital while others succumbed during treatment.
Officials of the district administration were tight-lipped over the incident and maintained that exact reason behind the deaths could be ascertained only after thorough investigation and
receipt of postmortem report.
Police Superintendent of Gopalganj district Anand Kumar said that the bodies had been sent for postmortem and the samples had been sent for examination in forensic science lab.
He said that in Gopalganj district ,four people had been taken into custody who were being interrogated.
