Mr. Modi, congratulations on receiving the Platinum Medal in Politics

Ranchi: Referring to the recent political twist in Maharashtra, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Subodh Kant Sahai said that Jared Diamond, in his International Bestseller “Collapse” takes us on an epic journey through history, to discover how societies choose to fail or survive.

This episode in Maharashtra is an apt illustration of the mode in which societies choose to fail, said Mr Sahay. Those who bowed their head at the sacred entrance to the temple of democracy in India have actually been the perpetrators of the sordid events in Maharashtra.

Mr Sahay said that to be accurate, Maharashtra is only one in a series of similar acts- Goa, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, to name some. This voracious hunger to devour states, and by whatever means, is quite ominous for Loktantra in India. The guardian institutions have been reduced to the status of mute spectators or in some cases as hapless participants.

He said that the conscience of the nation knows that the methods are devious; the façade is tattered; the intentions are sinister; it is pure and simple murder of democracy. But those who falsify history are not even scared that the posterity will only remember them as an apparatus that worked ceaselessly to achieve the objective of a failed democratic society- to provide them perfect alibi for raising the totalitarian system and vest this apparatus with the powers of the Third Reich. The time has come to defend the democracy with all our ability and capacity, in the paraphrased words of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. And no well- meaning person should wait any longer.

He further added in response to the political developments in Maharashtra, that the country is celebrating the 75th Amrit Mahotsav to demonstrate how the soul of India is preserving democratic values under the democratic system. Gold medals are presented to students who excel academically. However, in todays politics, in the 75th Amrit Mahotsav year, Narendra Modi should be awarded a platinum medal in politics for working quietly behind the scenes and achieving instant success.

All of the people in the country have noticed how his party played chess in Maharashtra. Mr. Sahai went on to say to the media that the BJP has turned the Democratic Elected Government of the country into a horse-trading business, which it considers a success but is an undemocratic act. We have all witnessed the Bharatiya Janata Partys strategy of horse-trading to destabilize the government in its favour over the last few days.

Mr. Modi definitely succeeded in this politics, even though Indias democratic system has been defeated, said the former Union Minister. But this defeat is only temporary, he said adding that he was confident that democracy can never be defeated. Many examples can be found; this country has also faced the misadventures of foreign invaders and rendered them ineffective; they never succeeded in their nefarious intentions.

Mr. Sahai went on to say that how Mr. Modi agreed that sabotage and horse-trading politics will be accepted by the people of this country? Rather, the incident in Maharashtra has caused harm to the people of the country. And have begun portraying Mr Modis character as if his only intention has been to seize power. Furthermore Mr Modi  has begun drafting a new line on foreign soil that Indian politics should be saved, despite having the status of Prime Minister.

He said that being Prime Minister Mr. Modi is more than a single political partys leader.  Mr. Sahai went on to say that while Mr. Modi is happy about the political developments in Maharashtra, he must remember that these developments are not permanent and he will soon be disappointed.
