Patna: The Presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha, claiming himself a "Bihari", by birth was surprised why the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was was not supporting a Bihari candidate in the presidential election.


 Yashwant Sinhaz after discussing the presidential election strategies slated for July 18, with the opposition partys legislators in Bihar said on Friday that Nitish Kumar did not respond to this repeated calls he had made after declaration of his candidature from the opposition fold.


Yashwant Sinha said that he rightly deserve the support of Bihar as he belongs to this place.


Suggesting Nitish Kumar to think for the betterment of Bihar, Yashwant Sinha said that soon after announcement of Draupadi Murmus candidature for the presidential election, Odisha Navin Patnayak announced to support her but in utter surprise Nitish Kumar was not supporting a Bihari candidate.


Yashwant Sinha said that he was proud to be a Bihari and appealed to the legislators of the state to vote according to their conscience in the presidential election.


He lamented at the Central government alleging that he had never seen parliament crippling. He further alleged that the democracy was on the verge of collapse and the situation would turn to be disastrous if it was not checked right now.


He dubbed NDAs presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu, a rubber stamp who was not even allowed to file her papers which were filed by the Prime Minister. The Presidents post has a dignity and a rubber stamp President would hardly be able to check the centres excesses, he quipped.
