Patna: Following mounting pressures and continuous demands of the students, the Bihar Public Service Commission ( BPSC) extended the Preliminary Test ( PT) examination from September 21 to September 30 as the dates were coinciding with other competitive examinations including that of the UPSC mains.

Through a notification, issued on September 9 , the BPSC announced to extend the dates for the said examination.

The dates of the 67th BPSC PT, announced suddenly on the late evening of September 6 had put lakhs of the aspirants in lurch. The dates were published even without considering the schedule of other competitive examination following which the future of lakhs of aspirants was getting jeopardise.

According to the UPSC annual calendar for the year 2022, the mains examinations were scheduled on September 16, 17, 18, 24 and 25. Uttar Pradesh PSC main examination has been scheduled from September 27 followed by Madhya Pradesh PSC. Apart from this the date of 67th BPSC PT has also clashed with UGC-NET.

It is pertinent to mention here that the  67th BPSC PT held in May was cancelled when the videos related to its question paper leak went viral. Later the BPSC made changes in examination pattern and announced to introduce percentile system along with conducting the PT on two separate dates for separate batches of examines. This change triggered massive students protest in Bihar and Delhi. The new decisions were rolled back following intervention of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar. Now the dates announced by the BPSC for conducting PT on September 21 has again put the aspirants in doldrums as the dates coincided with other competitive examinations.

Meanwhile, the aspirants had called on Nitish Kumar in New Delhi on Thursday and had apprised him about their constraints in taking the BPSC PT as it coincided with UPSC mains examination commencing from September 16.
