New Delhi: Dyal Singh Teachers Association (DSCTA) organized a monumental protest in the Amphitheatre of Dyal Singh College, Lodhi Road against massive displacement of adhoc Assistant Professors in the Delhi University.

DSCTA president Dr. Manoj Kumar said here that in the last week Mathematics Department of Dyal Singh College conducted interview for the appointment of permanent Assistant Professor but four Assistant Professors who were teaching in the college on adhoc basis from a long time were mercilessly removed from the college. 

He said that there were total six vacancies in the OBC category and only three assistant professors were teaching in the Department on adhoc basis. Even though two adhoc teachers were displaced from the Mathematics Department of Dyal Singh College. One among these two OBC category teachers who were removed from the college was teaching in the college from more than twelve years. 

Academics for Action and Development Teachers Association (AADTA) leader and ex-Executive Council member of Delhi University Prof. Rajesh Jha said that displacement of adhoc Assistant Professors who are serving from more than ten to fifteen years are common phenomena in the Delhi University nowadays. 

Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) and Various Political groups of Teachers of Delhi university also participated in the protest and unanimously raised their concerned on the massive displacement of long serving adhoc teachers. Some political group of teachers expressed their anguish on the displacement of long serving adhoc teachers and said that it is not only a failure of the regularisation model of present DUTA leadership but also inhuman and painful.

Adhoc Assistant Professors and teachers across the colleges of Delhi University participated in the protest. 

DSCTA secretary Dr. Vivek Ratna, Treasurer Dr. Gyanendra Kumar,  DUTA president Prof. Ajay Kumar Bhagi, Executive Council member of Delhi University Seema Das,  AADTA leader Dr. Sujit Thakur and Mamta Choudhary,  DTF leader Dr. Abha Dev Habib, NDTF leader Mr. Sunil Kumar and various executive members of DUTA and DSCTA joined the protest along with several permanent and adhoc teachers and raised voice against the displacement of adhoc teachers.
