Chennai: Income Tax search operation was underway simultaneously at more than 50 places of close confidants of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, his family members and at the premises of G-Square a real estate company allegedly closely related to Mr Stalin.

The IT raids were conducted at the residence of DMK MLA M.K. Mohan, a close confidant of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday.

Raids and searches were also underway in the premises of Stalin’s son-in-law Sabareesans auditor Shanmugarajs residence. Sabareesans cousin, Praveen was also on the IT radar and the sleuths were conducting raids at the latters residence too.

Earlier Tamil Nadu BJP president, K. Annamalai had released DMK files exposing corruption rampant during DMK regime. The files contained details of alleged corruption  committed by Stalin’s son and current Minister, Udayanidhi Stalin, and his son-in-law Sabareesan. The BJP leader had alleged that they had generated income beyond known sources of their income. It has also been alleged that G-Square had received unhindered support when Stalin was Deputy Chief Minister in his father Karunanidhis Cabinet.

Meanwhile DMK workers, protesting against the raids which they claimed to be politically motivated staged dharna.
