Patna, Sept 22 ( TVN) Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal , a flagship scheme of Bihar Government and the dream project of the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to ensure drinking water for the poor through taps right at their homes, landed into a controversy as family members and close associates of the state Deputy Chief Minister Tar Kishore Prasad who is also BJP legislature party leader, were awarded the projects worth over Rs 53 crore under the scheme.
Projects awarded to the daughter-in-law of Dy.CM
According to the reports, in 2019-20 nearly 36 projects of drinking water scheme spread in nine panchayats of Katihar district were awarded to Puja Kumari, the daughter-in-law of Mr Tar Kishore Prasad who is four time MLA from Katihar and to the brother-in-law of Mr Prasad and to some of his close aides.
According to the records the work in 13 wards of Bhavada Panchayat in Katihar was awarded to Mrs Kumari and to Bhagats company. The officials associated with the implementation of the scheme confide that Mrs Kumari had no record of work in this field. She has been awarded the project in four wards of Bhavada Panchayat to the tune of Rs 1.6 crore. The approval authority of these contracts that the project has been completed and 63% of the amount has been paid to Mrs Kumari.
Meanwhile the beneficiaries of the four wards complaint of incomplete and faulty work. The designated water tank operator at ward number four Sanjay Mandal said that he reports about the work to P. K. Bhagat, brother of Deputy CMs wife.
Close associates of Dy. CM too got the projects
Meanwhile Deepkiran Infrastructure Private Limited in which P. K. Bhagat, brother-in-law of deputy CM and his wife Kiran Bhagat are directors has been awarded with the projects to the tune of Rs 3.6 crore in nine wards under the scheme.
Bhagat had informed about completion of the project awarded to him for which Rs 1.8 crore of the total project cost disbursed to him. However the project site has some different story to tell as several gaps were found.
Jivan Shri Infrastructure Private Limited with Prashant Chandra Jayaswal Lalit, Kishore Prasad and Santosh Kumar as directors all close aides of the Deputy CM was awarded projects in 110 wards to the tune of Rs 48 crore.
Mr Jaiswal admitted that he was associated with the Deputy CM Mr Prasad , who informed that the entire work is looked after by some Bablu who stated that Rs 33 crore of the project cost has been disbursed to the company so far.
PHED Minister denied awarding contracts to the family and associates of the Dy. CM
Meanwhile according to Bihar PHED minister from BJP fold Ramprit Paswan he too had heard about such cases and denied awarding of contracts to the family and associates of the Deputy Chief Minister.
Whats wrong in doing business ? -Dy. CM
On the vexed issue the Deputy CM Tarkishore Prasad pleaded there was nothing wrong in doing business and maintained that he had only one contract awarded to his daughter in law which has been completed.Prasad Said he had no idea what others were doing.
Regarding his brother-in-law Mr Prasad said it was ok and he belong to the same social category . Denying his association with any other company, Mr Prasad said that there were total 2800 units in Katihar and his family got only four . He reiterated there was nothing wrong in doing business without any irregularity.Mr Prasad said that he, however has restricted his son from doing any government work to avoid unnecessary controversy.
