Internet services suspended in Lakhimpur Kheri
Lakhimpur Kheri: At least eight people including four farmers and an equal number of supporters reportedly of BJP were killed in violent incident erupted over the proposed visit of the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Prdesh Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday near Tikuniya area.
An SUV of a BJP leader heading towards the venue of the function of Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya run over the farmers protesting against the function. Two farmers were reported to have been killed on the spot and a few others sustained injuries following which violence broke out .After the death of their colleague the farmers resorted to violence and ransacked several vehicles of the BJP leaders .
The eye witnesses accounts that after getting the information of Mr Maurya arriving at village Banvir, to which the Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni belongs, farmers in large number marched since morning towards village located on Tikuniya of Lakhimpur Kheri. The protesting farmers gathered at the helipad site at Maharaja Agrasen Sports Ground, where Deputy CMs helicopter was to land.
Mr Maurya, after getting to know the assemblance of the farmers altered his programme and reached Lakhimpur at 12 noon by road.
Meanwhile an SUV heading towards the venue accidentally ran over some of the farmers leaving two of them dead on the spot . The agitating farmers claimed that two more deaths took place during treatment. The farmers in retaliation set on fire several vehicles. It is reported that nearly four people died during the violent protest of the farmers.
Meanwhile UP DGP Mukul Goyal confirmed death of only two farmers.
In view of the prevailing situation there, ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar along with local senior police personnel was camping at the spot with reinforcement.
The internet services have been suspended as preventive step in the area.
Meanwhile the incident triggered the political temperature to boiling point in the state.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra left for the spot on Sunday night itself.

Samajwadi Party leaders, AAP leader Sanjay Singh will be reaching Lakhimpur Kheri by tomorrow morning.
Bahujan Samaj party president Mayawati demanded a judicial probe into the incident under monitoring by Supreme court.
