Dubai: In the final match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 , the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) grabbed the IPL trophy for the fourth time by thrashing Kolkata Night Riders (KKR) by 27 runs.
The match was played on Friday in Dubai International Cricket Stadium, United Arab Emirates (UAE) in which KKR won the toss and opted to bowl.
CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikward (32) and Faf du Plessis (86) gave a strong start and put 61 runs for the first wicket in 8 overs. Eventually, Sunil Narine provided the first breakthrough for the Eoin morgan-led team KKR by dismissing Gaikwad .
Robin Uthappa (31) and Mohan Alis (37*) runs helped CSK to put 193 runs on 3 wicket in 20 overs.
In chase of 193 runs, KKR openers counterpart their opponent and put 91 runs for the first wicket. Shubman Gill (51) and Venkatesh Iyer (50) played splendid innings for there team.
After having a first breakthrough on 91 runs CSK bowlers took the match from KKR by taking wickets at frequent intervals. Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, Josh Hazlewood took 3, 2, 2 wickets respectively. Although KKR scored 165 runs on 9 wickets.
Faf du Plessis was awarded as the "Man of the Match" for his regnat performance of 86 runs in 59 balls. Ruturaj Gaikwad wins the orange cap by surpassing Punjab Kings captain Kl Rahul.
