Lucknow: Launching a scathing attack on the opposition  in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the previous government gave a free hand to the mafia for open loot. They were hand in glove with criminals and also protected them, he alleged claiming that noe the mafias were running for their life under Yogi’s leadership.

“The policy of the government before 2017 in Uttar pradesh was - ‘mafia ko khuli chhut, khuli loot’ . Today, under the leadership of Yogi , the mafia has become toothless and their protectors have no place to hide themselves.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Government Medical College built at a cost of over Rs 280 crore and launched 12 other development projects worth Rs 180 crores in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh.

While inaugurating the medical college, the PM said that now whoever wants to study medicine and become a doctor to serve the country can register and the new education policy will ensure that there will be no language barrier for the students. Governor Anandi Ben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also graced the event with their presence.

“This college will make doctors who will contribute in stopping diseases like encephalitis in the state along with measures taken by the Yogi government to control its spread,” said the Prime Minister.

Highlighting the development works carried out by the combined efforts of the Central and State government, the PM said that the Double engine govt is setting new records of procurement from farmers here. So far, about Rs 80,000 Cr has reached in bank accounts of UP farmers for the purchase of the produce.

“UP has been striving hard  to combat Tuberculosis (TB) after elimination of Japanese Encephalitis. In just two years, 27 lakh people received connections for clean drinking water. Clearly, the double engine govt is improving situation with double strength. Otherwise, the govt which was here before 2017 was not concerned with your problems,” he added.

Taking a jibe at the Samajwadi party,  the  Prime Minister recalled that Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia used to say that - ‘Karma ko karuna se jodo’ (connect karma with compassion). But those who were running the government before 2017, did not care about the pain of the poor. Rather, the earlier government linked their karma, to scams, to crimes. The identity of these people became that of a ‘parivarwadi’, not ‘samajwadi’. These people only did good for the family.

“The double engine government is improving the situation with double strength. Otherwise the previous government was not concerned with the problems of the poor,” he said.

The PM also appreciated the pro farmer stance of the Yogi government. He said that the present UP government has done commendable work for sugarcane farmers. Uttar Pradesh is the state that gives the highest price of produce to its sugarcane farmers. During the tenure of the earlier government, sugarcane farmers were paid less than Rs one lakh crores. In the last 4.5 years, more than one and a half lakh crores has been paid to the cane farmers.

The Prime Minister remarked that Uttar Pradesh is the state which has given the maximum number of Prime Ministers to the country. This is the speciality of Uttar Pradesh, however, "the identity of Uttar Pradesh cannot be limited only to this. Uttar Pradesh Cannot be confined to 6-7 decades. This is a land whose history is timeless, whose contribution is timeless".

The Prime Minister said Uttar Pradesh is a region where there are pilgrimages every step of the way, and there is energy in every particle. The upcoming time is the time to fulfill the aspirations of UP. It is time for all of us to unite in this ‘Azaadi ka Amrit Kaal’. From here plans are formulated for five months, UP has to be taken forward by laying the foundation for the coming 25 years.
