Artists of Bihar will participate in the popular Toshali National Crafts Mela
Patna : Women and Child Development Corporation (WCDC) will send 15 national and state-level awardee craftsmen and artists of Bihar to the annual Toshali National Crafts Mela to be held in Bhubaneswar.
Harjot Kaur Bamhra, Managing Director, Women and Child Development Corporation said that” national and state award winner artists of Bihar will get a chance to participate in this national level handicrafts fair. By participating in such fairs, while on the one hand their crafts and artifacts will get the right price, the people of other states will be able to know about our handloom, crafts, and arts. Apart from providing a platform for the craftsmen, this fair will also provide them employment opportunities.
She said that 15 artists have been selected from different disciplines from Bihar such as stone craft, wood, leathercraft, terracotta, Madhubani painting, sujni, handloom, paper Maishi, sikki art to participate in the fair.
Toshali Crafts Mela is one of the most popular handlooms and handicraft fairs in Eastern India, showcasing the best of handloom and handicraft arts from across the country.
This year, the fair is being organized with an aim to provide marketing opportunities to the artisans and weavers of the country, who have been badly affected by COVID-19.
The 16th Toshali National Crafts Mela is being organized from 20 December 2021to 1 January 2022 at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It is a flagship event for the handicrafts/handloom sector in Orissa where more than 20 lakh visitors interact with handicraft artisans and handloom weavers from different parts of Orissa as well as from across the country.
