Punjab, Sep 20 (TVN) Describing the three farms laws as draconian law, the newly inducted Punjab Chief Minister, Charanjit Singh Channi demanded from the centre to withdraw it which were passed by Parliament in September last year.
Addressing his maiden conference in Chandigarh, Channi said that Punjab government stands firmly with the farmers. Demanding rolling back of the the three agricultural laws he announced that his government will waive water and electricity bills of farmers.
It may be recalled that the farmers were protesting since November 25 last year against the three bills introduced in Parliament on September 14. The President gave his accent on bills on September 27 after its passage from the parliament on September 20.
The farmers were scared of abolishment of the minimum support price (MSP) under the new law which they feel would leave them at the mercy of corporate houses.
The three laws against which the farmers were agitating for nearly a year include Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020,
Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 and Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020.
