BKMVSS says the cut in taxes would benefit the farmers and common people
Patna: Bhoomiheen Kisan Mazdoor Vikas Sewa Sanstha (BKMVSS) Functional Director Santosh Bhardwaj on Monday demanded from the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to immediately reduce taxes on fuel in view of the reduction on excise duty on petrol and diesel by the Centre.
He said that soon after the Centre reduced excise duty on fuel, several state governments announced for a cut in the Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel.
Mr. Bhardwaj said that Nitish Kumar too should immediately reduce the taxes on fuel in accordance with the reduction on excise duty by the Centre.
Perturbed at the delay in taking decision for slashing the taxes on Petrol and Diesel in Bihar, he said that Nitish government should immediately reduce the taxes on the fuels as it would directly benefit the farmers and the common people.
Lamenting at the comments of Nitish Kumar who stated that he would take a decision after due deliberations, Mr Bhardwaj said that Nitish Kumar should take decision without wasting time as the delay would be against the interest of the farmers and the common people already reeling under inflation.
Welcoming the centres decision for reduction in the excise duty on fuel, Mr. Bhardwaj said that it would benefit the farmers who buy diesel for agriculture purposes.
He also lauded Kerala, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Odisha governments for their decision to slash tax on fuel in accordance with the centres decision and asked Nitish government to take immediate decision on the issue.
