New Delhi: Retorting sharply at projection of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as PM candidate of opposition in 2024 Lok Sabha elections by the JD (U) leaders, the NCP categorically stated that only the elected MPs of opposition parties would decide about it and that too only after the elections of Lok Sabha gets over.
NCP Vice president of Bihar unit Navin Kumar Singh said here that soon after Nitish Kumar severed his ties with the BJP and formed the new government of the Grand Alliance, the JD(U) leaders, without waisting time began projecting him as PM candidate of opposition in 2024 Lok Sabha election.
Questioning the JD(U) leaders move, Singh claimed that compared to Nitish Kumar, NCP president Sharad Pawar has wider acceptability as PM among all opposition parties at national level. He said that Nitish Kumar outside Bihar was not widely acceptable.
Singh further added that remaining in favour of Presidential elections above party politics, Pawar who was tipped as common candidate of opposition had refused the offer. Pawar could have accepted the offer had ruling BJP and its allies also supported him, he maintained.
NCP leader said that only the elected MPs of opposition would decide the PM candidate after 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It was pleasant to note that what BJP had done with Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, was repayed in same coin in Bihar on August Kranti diwas, he quipped.
