Mumbai/ New Delhi : The newly elected Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) National President Ajit Pawar who was recently inducted into Maharashtra government as deputy chief minister alleged that the National Executive/National Working Committee/ National Office Bearers / State Party Presidents meeting of the NCP convened by Sharad Pawar is illegal.
In a release, circulated soon after the meeting held by Sharad Pawar in New Delhi on Thursday, Ajit Pawar, nephew of the stalwart said that any decision taken in the so called National Executive/National Working Committee/ National Office Bearers / State Party Presidents shall have no valid legal basis and shall not be binding on anyone in the Party.
Ajit Pawar said that from various media reports, he got the information of the meeting of the National Executive/National Working Committee/National Office Bearers/State Party Presidents of the NCP held by Sharad Pawar which he termed as illegal.
The release said that Ajit Pawar has also filed a petition before the Election Commission of India (ECI), stating that he represents the real NCP and therefore, the name of the party along with the symbol be granted to him.
The release further said that the dispute on the question of who represents the real NCP is within the exclusive jurisdiction of the ECI and therefore no person within the Party has any authority to call for any meeting of the National Executive/National Working Committee/ National Office Bearers / State Party Presidents till the dispute is finally decided by the ECI.
In such a situation Ajit Pawar reiterated that the meeting of the NCP conducted by Sharad Pawar during the day has no legal validity.
As it is Ajit Pawar was elected as the National President of NCP on June 30 with the overwhelming support of the majority of elected representatives of NCP as well as the members working on different organisational post.
