New Delhi: Welcoming the decision of the Election Commission recognising Nationalist Congress Party ( NCP) Ajit Pawars faction as "real" one, NCP National Media Coordinator and National executive member of the party, Prof. Navin Kumar said that the decision has elated the party workers.
Soon after the ECs verdict that was delivered on Tuesday, Kumar said that after marathon meetings which continued for over six months, the EC finally recognised Ajit Pawar faction as the real NCP. Before coming to the conclusion, the commission heard the legal luminaries from both sides on ten different dates and meticulously examined the facts presented in due course of argument.
Prof. Kumar said that with the decision of the EC, the original NCP was now with Ajit Pawar faction. He, however said that it cannot be considered either as defeat or victory of any faction but it is a fact that Ajit Pawar faction was the real NCP.
The NCP leader expressed his apprehension that chances were high that some political faction with an aim to encash political mileage may equate the decision of the Election Commission with that of its earlier decisions given in context with some other political party. He said that the scenario under which EC had given its verdict for some other political party was different from that of the NCP.
After patiently hearing both factions and looking minutely into the matter, the EC gave its verdict recognising the Ajit Pawar faction as the real NCP, he maintained.
As it is the EC allowed Ajit Pawar’s faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to use the party’s name and its electoral symbol of the clock citing what it terms the “test of aims and objectives of the party constitution”, the “test of the party constitution” and “the test of majority”.
