Patna: Former MP Subhash Prasad Yadav, brother-in-law of the RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav was sent to the jail in connection with a criminal case on Tuesday.
The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (I) constituted to look into the cases against MPs and MLAs remanded the judicial custody to Yadav who surrendered before the Special Judge Sarika Vahaliya during the day in connection with a land related case lodged at Bihta police station in the year 2023.
Earlier, the administration had reached Yadavs residence to attach the property attachment order issued by the court. However the order could not be executed as Yadav who was absconding surrendered before the court during the day.
Meanwhile, pleading before the court on behalf of Yadav, a renowned Senior Advocate of Patna High Court Anil Kumar Singh argued that all other accused of the case were on bail and requested the court to grant regular bail to his client. Through the petition, Mr. Singh told the court that no specific allegation has been leveled against Yadav in the case. Mr. Singh also apprised the court with the health conditions of Yadav and about the Heart ailments Yadav was suffering from. Yadav will cooperate with investigation and smooth trial of the case, assured Mr. Singh.
In the petition Mr. Singh submitted that the petitioner has not committed any offence much less as alleged by the informant and was not evading the process of the court.
As it is the case was lodged under various sections 447, 446, 341, 342, 323, 384, 386, 406, 420, 506, 120-B of the Indian Penal Code against seven accused including Subhash Yadav his wife and son. The complainant had also met the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in his regular Janata Darbar with a request for initiating action against Yadav.
The court had already issued an arrest warrant against Subhash Yadav who was evading his arrest.
